About US - Dr. MACS. RAJENDRAN M.S, FICS., is the Founder Chairmen of ShenbagamSchool of Nursing and was started in July 2008.  It is run by Sironmaniammal Health and Educational Foundation, which is a charitable trust helping the poor and needy in terms of Health and Education.

As per INC norms, one Principal, one Vice-Principal, one Senior Tutor and  3 Tutors are available to import nursing education to the students.

Admission

Description about GNM Course
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum and maximum age for admission will be 17 to 35 years respectively. 
Minimum Education
10, +2 class passed in any group with aggregate of 45% marks.
Admission of students shall be once in a year.
Students shall be medically fit.
In addition to the above, admission procedure can be laid down by concerned State Nursing Council / Nursing Examination Boards (S.I.B.E, M.I.B.E. C.M.A.I.)


Admission / Selection Committee

This committee comprises of the, Principal …. Chairperson, Vice Principal, Senior Tutor Chief Nursing Officer or Nursing Superintendent, Admission Strength
GNM is a skill oriented programme. Therefore INC  permits a  maximum of 20 ( Twenty ) students per batch per year. 
 

TRAINING PERIOD

  • Duration of the Course
  • The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery shall be of three years and six
  • months duration.
  • There should be a preliminary period of 12 weeks.  During this time the student will
  • attend the wards for observation and supervised practice.

Eligibility for Admission to Examination

A candidate shall be eligible for the admission to the state Council / Board examination if the Principal of the school certifies that:

  1. She / he has completed not less than eleven month of the course
  2. She / he has attended 75% of the formal instructions given on each subject and 75 % of the clinical field experience in each area / subject separately the academic year, however, the total clinical / field experience prescribed must be completed before the final council / Board examinations and before the issue of diploma. (The diploma shall not be awarded to the student till she / he has completed the clinical / field requirements.)
  3. The overall performance of the student and her / his conduct during the entire academic year has been satisfactory.
  4. The student has passed in the internal assessment in each subject i.e., both in the teaching and practical (5) by securing 50% marks separating in each theory and practical(s)
  5. The record of practical experience is complete. (The principle shall send to the Council / board the internal assessment for each subject, i.e. both theory and practical (S) before the start of the examination along with the examination form).

Supplementary Examination

The Council shall conduct supplementary examination with in six months of the annual examination:

  1. If a student fails in one theory paper / practical, she / he may be allowed to proceed to the next year of study.  She / he will sit for a supplementary examination held subsequently in the failed subject / practical.  If she / he fails to clear supplementary examination she / he shall be allowed to sit again along with her next year annual examination
  2. If a student fails in two or more papers or practical she / he will not be allowed to proceed to the next year.  She / He shall sit for supplementary examination in the failed subjects / practicals only but shall be eligible for the next year’s examination after one academic year from the date of passing the last examination.
  3. No candidate of category (a) shall be allowed to proceed to third year (higher class), unless she / he has passed in the subjects of the previous year (backlog to the second year).

Details of Internship period

Total Duration         -        26 weeks / 6 Months
Vacation                -        1 week
Examination            -        1 week
